As of October 2008, there is a new statute that attempts to take into account that the minor children of a divorcing couple is not just another "item" they are fighting about. This new statue created a "Parenting Plan" to establish "timesharing", or visitation, with the parties minor children. The statue changed certain terms such as "custody", "visitation" and "primary parent" in order to help promote the idea that the minor children are not objects that one party owns. The idea is to allow both parents to have more time with their children, more input in how their children are raised, where and who they spend their holidays and summer vacations with. At the law firm of Kimberly A. O'Steen, we help guide you through the new laws to better adjust the entire family to their new lives, making it as smooth a transition as possible under the circumstances.
